Naomh Éamann Camogie Club was formed in 2010 and officially registered with Laois County Board in 2011. The club currently caters for almost 136 girls from Castletown parish and surrounding areas.
Theresa Bennett, who has won all Ireland medals with The Harps club and played camogie for Laois, together with others including former county camogie players, Mary Treacy and Ber Fitzpatrick were the driving force behind the re-forming of the camogie club in the parish where clubs, which had been in existence in both Castletown and Slieve Bloom, had not been active for many years.
Since 2011 Naomh Éamann has participated in U8, U10 and U12 camogie Go Games and in the U14 and U16 championship and league competitions. The U14 and U16 teams both won the Laois “B” championship in 2012 and are competing in the “A” championships in 2013.
Since 2011 many of the club members have also trained with and been selected to play for Laois U14, U15 and U16 teams.
